Earth Mama Angel Baby {Review and Giveaway}

There are so many harsh chemicals added to products we use daily, even the lotions and body washes that are made for children, contain these dangerous chemicals.  It's important for me to find organic alternatives to keep my family healthy and safe and share these awesome products with you!  I'm thrilled to introduce to you, Earth Mama Angel Baby!

Earth Mama Angel Baby uses the highest-quality, certified-organic, or organically grown herbs and oils, gentle handmade soaps, salves, lotions and massage oils.  Their products are 100% free of toxins, cruelty-free, gluten-free, vegan and free from all artificial preservatives, fragrances and dyes.

Earth Mama Angel Baby has everything a mommy could need.  Including products for pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding, baby and the whole family.  I received the Mama's Herbal First Aid Bundle last week and I absolutely love it!  It has everything I need to care for my family safely, naturally and effectively.

This kit comes in a cute and convenient tote bag so you can even take it on the go.  It works in so many ways which includes:

  • Organic Milkmaid Tea for gas, bloating, heartburn and indigestion
  • Natural Nipple Butter to protect scrapes, chapped lips and cheeks, and minor rashes.
  • Angel Baby Bottom Balm for the use of rashes, scrapes, new tattoos, piercing and chafing
  • New Mama Balm Spray helps with sunburn, shaving rash and facial toner
  • Happy Mama Spray works for upset tummies,  motion sickness and nausea from pregnancy
  • Mama-To-Be Tea Sampler includes these wonderful teas
    • Organic Peaceful Mama Tea that helps with teething, crankiness and tiredness
    • Organic Morning Wellness Tea for nausea
    • Organic Third Trimester Tea works great for allergies, leg cramps and diarrhea
    • Organic Heartburn Tea does well for scratchy and sore throats

The Mama Herbal First Aid Bundle came at such a perfect time for me.  Baby C scratched her little leg and the Natural Nipple Butter worked wonders.  I also used it on my lips, because they are always chapping from the dry Colorado air.  I have fallen in love with Earth Mama Angel Baby products because they are organic and safe.  And since these products have multiple purposes, I save money too!

{Encouraging Healthy} Back-To-School

Your kids are so excited to get back to school!  Okay, maybe not.  But I bet you're ready to send them off.  How are you going to keep your kids healthy this year?  I know it's so tough to control the school environment with classmates passing around germs.  Here are some great tips and products to keep your family healthy this school year!
Kids need a healthy immune system to stay supercharged.  Provide your children with vitamins that contains 100% of the daily value of vitamin C, as well as 8 B vitamins, which are essential to children's development and function of major bodily processes.  My favorite is Incredivites, because it contains lactoferrin, a nutrient found naturally in breast milk.
My next suggestion is to remove shoes at your doorstep.  Do you know where your kids  have stepped today?  Imagine the bacteria, molds and toxins that live on the school bathroom floor.  Yikes!  Keep those pollutants outside of your home.
Don't forget to wash your hands with soap and water as soon as you enter your home.  It's the best way to keep whatever your kids have touched or handled throughout the day in the outside world, on the other side of the door.  Our family uses Get Clean Hand Wash Concentrate.  It's a soap-free cleanser that's pH balanced and hypoallergenic.

Open up your home.  The pollution inside our homes is worse than outside.  Air fresheners only make it worse by covering up smells, not eliminating them, and add unsafe toxins to your home.  Try using natural and non-toxic cleaning choices that are safe for you, your home and the planent, called Get Clean!

 Here's what other mom's are saying about staying healthy this school year!

Chrystal, from Happy Mothering, says to try and eat a whole foods diet and cut back on sugar intake.

Ashely, author of The Reynolds Mom, suggests washing lunch boxes and backpacks frequently, get plenty of sleep and keep a routine.  She also agrees with Chrystal, make healthy snacks for kids, nothing processed!

Alicia, from Green Lifestyle Consulting, recommends drinking lots of water and sending your kids to school with reusable water bottles.  Also, try eating more organic foods.  Start with the "Dirty Dozen."

Nicole, who writes at Some Call It Natural, feels it's important to pack a lunch everyday and not buy school lunch!  She suggests packing it the night before so there is never an excuse and you don't run out of time in the morning.  And if recess has been taken away at your child's school, make sure your kids get outside for at least 30 minutes a day.
To make lunch packing more eco-friendly and fun, Audrey, from Bump to Baby Gear, loves the reusable kid's sandwich bags by Built.

Along with taking vitamins, Nicole, author of Mom Always Finds Out, gives her children probiotics to naturally support digestive health and the immune system.

I am passionate about encouraging healthy living, so if you have any questions about the products listed above, let me know how I can help you!

Do you have any other tips you recommend to keep kids healthy this school year?

Trespass {One Thousand Gifts}

We went to visit our new home this past weekend.  The construction is about 3 weeks away from being completed.  We were so excited to see the new changes that had been made during the week.  We stepped down into the basement and realized someone had vandalized our property.  They cut out all the copper piping and slashed through our wiring.  A mix of emotions washed over us.  We felt angry at whoever had done this.  Powerless because it was out of our control.  And sad because all the progress that had been made was ruined.  We had to remind ourselves that there was nothing we could do about it.  And that this would all be taken care of.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen

Rough Week {Insta-Friday}

Baby C had a rough week.  Since she had Foot Hand Mouth Disease, we couldn't really go anywhere, so I didn't take many pictures.  We did have some good cuddle and reading time together, though.  And we sent Grammie some birthday wishes.  Too bad we couldn't be with her to eat some yummy cake, but she's coming out to visit in September for a whole month!  Woohoo!

A Taste of Colorado {Events}

A Taste of Colorado is an event I look forward to attending every year.  There is an abundance of great food and entertainment for the whole family!  When we attended last year, Baby C loved relaxing in the open field and listening to the bands play on stage.  Great memories are always to be made at A Taste of Colorado.

This awesome event takes place Labor Day weekend at the Civic Center Park, Downtown Denver.  Admission is always free.  Tickets (15 for $10) are used to purchase food, drinks and carnival rides.  In The KidZone, you'll find play equipment and crafts for all ages, as well as, carnival rides and games.  There is also music, magic, clowns and puppets to keep you busy and entertained throughout the day.

The KidZone also provides a Baby Oasis where nursing moms can feed their little ones and parents can change diapers with an assortment of supplies provided.

Visit ColoradoKids for a chance to win a $50 Family Package!  This package includes $50 worth of tickets good for food, beverages and carnival rides.

Disclaimer:  I received $50 to use at A Taste of Colorado in exchange for this post.  Regardless, I only share information with my readers that I feel they will enjoy and benefit from.

{Encouraging Healthy} Remedies for Hand Foot Mouth Disease

Early last week, Baby C just wasn't acting like herself.  She felt a little warm to me, but she gets hot easily.  So, I turned down the air and laid her down for a nap.  When she woke, she was still tired and very quiet.  And when my husband came home from work, he couldn't believe how mellow she was.

When I woke Baby C up the next morning, her bum bum was covered in red bumps along the diaper line.  My first thought was that it was diaper rash and called the doctor.  The nurse told me it was probably heat rash, but to keep an eye on it and call back if it gets worse or she has other symptoms.

The following day, the bumps had spread to her hands and feet, as well as, random dots all around her body.  I admit, I started freaking out.  My first thought was chicken pox, which can be very rough on children who have had meningitis.  I explained what was going on with friends and they said it sounded like Hand Foot Mouth Disease.

Bumps on Baby C's hand

Of course, I read the worst of it and was so worried.  Thankfully, it had not spread to her mouth, or this may have caused issues.  I called the doctor on call over the weekend, but since HFMD is a virus, there isn't much you can do for it, but let it run it's course and try using natural remedies.  Mama Alternative Mama shares some awesome natural remedies when it spreads to baby's mouth.

I soaked Baby C in a bath and used Shakleebaby Gentle Wash.  It provides organic aloe base with oat extract and olive oil for mild lather.  It also contains organic lavender to soothe and organic chamomile to calm and relax.  After her bath, I smothered her with virgin coconut oil for it's antiviral properties.

Shakleebaby Gentle Wash

Since the virus is contagious and can be transmitted through nose and throat secretions, the fluid in blisters, or stool, we had to isolate ourselves and keep Baby C home away from other kids.  Throughout the week, I have been cleaning toys and everything else that may have germs on it, with my super-safe and really powerful all purpose cleaner, Basic H2.

Baby C is back to feeling like herself again and her bumps are starting to disappear.  We hope to be back playing with friends soon and staying healthy!  If you are interested in any of the products I talked about, let me know!  I love encouraging healthy living!

Tragedy {One Thousand Gifts}

As humans, we'll never understand what causes people to commit such senseless tragedies as that of the Aurora movie theater shooting.  May God wrap his comforting arms around the family and friends of the innocent lives that were taken.  May they know peace, love and security that comes from above.  And may God provide great blessings from this horrific act.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Peter Rabbit Organics {Review and Giveaway}

Raise your hand if you have a picky eater!  I see you and don't worry, you're not alone.  I have a hard time getting Baby C to eat fruits and veggies, too.  The only ones she likes is bananas and green beans.  Oh!  And how could I forget about the applesauce.  Hmm!  She sounds a little bit like her mommy growing up.  Not to worry, I have a few great tips to share with you!

Peter Rabbit Organics is a small, privately owned company that makes delicious, organic fruit snacks and veggie blends loved by all ages.  Everything they make is organic, healthy (no added salt, sugar or artificial flavors) and tastes yummy!  Peter Rabbit Organics comes in a variety of flavors to choose from too, including, but not limited to, strawberry banana, apple and grape, sweet potato corn and apple, and pear and pea!

These fruit snacks and veggie blends are great on their own or you can try some of these tips to create a well-balanced meal.  First things first, breakfast.  Use plain, organic oatmeal and mix in a delicious Peter Rabbit Organics fruit snack or veggie blend to add a delicious taste that any picky eater would gobble up!  How about a snack?  Make a yogurt parfait, alternating yogurt and Peter Rabbit.  Then, sprinkle a little granola on top.  Viola!

What we love about Peter Rabbit Organics is the convenience of a healthy snack on the go.  Today, I took Baby C to an indoor playground on this hot day.  Since we were going to be a little ways from home, I knew Baby C would get hungry and I needed something that would be quick and easy.  Thank you, Peter Rabbit Organics!  Baby C loved her Mango Banana And Orange Fruit Snack!

 Each pouch of Peter Rabbit Organics contains less than 100 calories, 35% RDA Vitamin C, less than 20g of sugar, less than 1g of fat and BPA free!  Find Peter Rabbit Organics near you at Starbucks, REI, Whole Foods, Publix, Albertsons, Amanzon.com and Target.  Follow them on Facebook and Twitter or visit their website.

One blessed reader will win 12 pouches of Peter Rabbit Organics snack pouches.  Simply fill out the Rafflecopter form below.  There are no mandatory entries, however, the more you complete, the better your chances at winning.  Good luck!

Motherhood - It's Not Easy

I love being a mommy.  It's the one thing in my life I would never change.  I get to watch Baby C as she grows and learns.  I get to see her firsts.  I get to play and be silly.  I get to read and create art with her.  And guide her in her faith.  I get to be her mommy.  But it's not always easy.

Mommies are on call 24/7.  We kiss the boo boos and calm the storms.  We tame the public and private tantrums with judging eyes upon us.  We shake off the annoying and sometimes hurtful comments from others who think they know how to raise our children better.  Often times, mommies live in isolation, begging for a ten minute adult conversation.  We care for the sick and cranky.  We have patience, but can only take so much.  We are the heart of the family and often put everyone else's needs before our own.  We work hard to keep a clean home, only to find it unraveled 1 point 2 seconds later.  Mommies try to please the appetites of everyone.  Mommies worry.  We make choices based on our best knowledge.  We constantly are learning to forgive ourselves when we make the wrong decisions.  And we teach the tough lessons.
Motherhood is not an easy road, but I thank God for every minute of it!
What did I forget?  What else do you do as a mommy?

A Life Lost {A Thousand Gifts}

I heard the news just a few days ago.  She took her own life.  We weren't extremely close, but she was there for me in one of my hardest times.  She sat by my hospital bedside, as I lay helpless and out of control.  And my newborn daughter, miles away in a children's hospital.  She kept me company so I didn't feel alone.  She helped me when I couldn't help myself.  And sought out nurses when I was in pain.

Though we had not talked in more than a year, we used to pray together and for each other in our prayer group.  It's hard to believe she's no longer on this Earth.  And I wonder if she ever knew how much I appreciated her being there for me.  It breaks my heart that someone could suffer so much emotional pain and heartache, that they would take their own life.  Rest in peace, my friend.

"Some things in life are uncertain: health may vanish; wealth may disappear; success may be fleeting, and the victories we hold most dear may, in time, be transformed into bitter defeats.  But in a world of uncertainties, one thing is certain: God loves us.  And that one fact can make all the difference.  When doubts creep in, as they will from time to time, remember that God isn't just near, He's here  . . . and He's ready to talk to you right now." ~Laura Story

Something to Celebrate {Insta-Friday}

I love my birthday.  It's one day out of the year where everyone showers me with love.  And that makes me feel special.  I remember growing up, my birthdays were the best.  Sleepovers, limo rides, Disney trips and even a celebration in every state we visited.  How blessed am I?  This year, I wasn't near my family and friends to celebrate.  But that didn't stop them from sharing the love.  And, what birthday isn't complete without a birthday cake?

Just a couple of days later, I was reunited with my best friend from college after 3 kids (2 hers and 1 mine) and 8 years since we last had seen each other.  She hadn't changed a bit.  Her sweet and genuine personality spills over into her role as a mommy and a friend.

Baby C's new thing is to say "uh oh" before she does something she's not suppose to do.  I'm not sure what she was about to do here, but I captured her little, uh oh face on camera.  At least she gives me a little warning, right?

Baby C is also learning new tricks.  Check out her planking pose!

This week was filled with many blessings!

Thanks Mama {Review}

Does anyone else have trouble finding a swimsuit for their baby?  It always seems like the sizes are off or the suits don't fit over the swim diaper.  Speaking of swim diapers, I was so disappointed to find out that they aren't made to absorb.  What a hassle when traveling.  I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to review and share with you the i play Mod Ultimate Swim Diaper Skirty Tanksuit from Thanks Mama.

Thanks Mama is a family owned cloth diapering and natural parenting store based in Boston.  They are parents themselves, who bring value, personal knowledge and experience with all types of natural products, to their customers.  Some of these products include cloth diapers and accessories, baby carriers, toys, baby and mom care products, baby room furniture and so much more.

Using the size chart that Thanks Mama provided was easy and accurate.  The tanksuit fit like a glove on Baby C.  It was also very easy to get on and off, even when it was wet.  This tanksuit is a swimsuit and diaper in one, which makes it so convenient.  The swimsuit provides a UPF of 50+ and the swim diaper has an absorbant inner layer and lining.  There are 2 prints to choose from in sizes 3 months to 3 years.

Baby C and I grabbed our water gear, put on our suits and headed to the local fountains to cool off.  She ran, splashed and had a picnic, all in her sweet, little suit.  And received compliments from other mommies too.  I felt much more relaxed and confident, knowing that her swimsuit was perfect for water fun, and would take care of any accidents, just as if we were wearing a regular diaper at the park.

I highly recommend Thanks Mama for all your little one's swimming needs.  They have everything from tanksuits and board shorts to pool shoes and the swimtrainer!  Thanks Mama provides free shipping on orders over $60, 90 day easy return policy, and shipments world wide.

Connect with Thanks Mama on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Pinterest!

Summer Fun {Insta-Friday}

We've been having a little fun around here this summer.

Since the afternoons are too hot to play at the playground, Baby C loves playing on the patio.  She's been water painting, sidewalk chalk painting, and picking out the perfect rocks for mommy.

Even my husband and I had a little fun on our first date night in almost 2 years!

Baby C loves wearing anything and everything on her head.  It can be undies, t-shirts or daddy's baseball cap.

Look!  No paci!  She went almost the whole day without it (except for nap time)!

This picture just says it all.  Her excitement for story time at the library is no joke!

Date Night

Yes, it's true.  My husband I haven't had a date night in almost 2 years.  Crazy, right?  But it's been a stressful and blessful (not a word, I know) 2 years.  From hospitalizations to moving 3 times, and across country away from close family and friends, it's hard to find time and someone I can trust to watch my precious, baby girl, overnight.

Since joining Meetup.com to find play dates for Baby C, I met one mommy who has a daughter very close in age to my daughter.  We've hung out several times, and she is a former teacher, like me.  She is so sweet and such a good mom.  I'm so glad that God brought them into my lives.  And so, in exchange for watching her daughter one day, she watched Baby C for our, long overdue date night.

My husband received free Colorado Rockies tickets from work.  So we geared up in our Rockies' swag and headed to the game on the light rail.  I must say, it felt very strange without a diaper bag, stroller and a cutie pie at my side, but very relaxing and worry-free.

Okay, okay, I did think about Baby C often.  And was pointing out all the babies at the game to my husband.  But lucky for me, my awesome babysitter texted me with updates and a photo too!  What would we do without technology?

While our seats were nose bleeds and in direct sunlight, there was a nice, fat cloud that provided relief most of the game.  And what made it even more enjoyable was the beautiful sunset and firework show after the game.

What are your favorite date nights?

Present {One Thousand Gifts}

I love it when I have something to look forward to.  I like to imagine what it will be like when I get to see a friend or a family member I haven't seen in a while, or all the fun I will have on vacation.  Sometimes, I look forward to the next stage in Baby C's life.  Like when we will be able to have a "real" conversation or when I can teach her how to read.  And I'm really looking forward to our new home.  But I realize that sometimes, I look forward to things a little too much, instead of enjoying the moment I'm in right now.  This week, I'm committing myself to staying present in the moment.  I'm going to focus on all the wonderful gifts I have right now, today.

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm

In what ways do you stay focused on the present?
